X-Box!

so i bought an x-box. it came with halo (a first-person shooter) and apex (a racing game). and i bought an extra controller, too. all in all, it cost me, including the cab ride to and from the store, W295,000, which is just shy of CA$350.

i think that's not too bad considering i got halo which is one of three games i want (the other two being dead or alive 3 and splinter cell).

not only do my wrists hurt from playing, but i whacked into a lady on my bike today.

i was really pissed off today at the sheer ignorance/rudeness of some korean people. see, you have to ride on the sidewalks here, since most of the roads are super wide and cars go really fast. there are painted lanes on the sidewalks for bikes. now, i have a bell so whenever i see people, i politely ding a few times to let them know i'm coming. a few people weren't even phased. one lady was talking to her friend as they were walking, and she had her head slightly turned in her friend's direction, so i can understand that she didn't see me. but i dinged a few times during my appraoch, and still she didn't really seem to notice/care. so my right forearm struck her elbow, which happened to be out a bit, as her arm was bent, i think because her handbag was in the crook of it. i was going a bit fast, but not too fast, and i tried to squeeze between her and the bus shelter that just happened to also coincide with our paths. and her elbow i presume got me right between my muscles.

thus my arm and also my wrist hurts.

매미! 매미! 매미!

there's a typhoon passing. her name is 매미 (maemi).

it's quite windy and rainy here, as you'd expect.

it should pass by daejeon, rather than hit it.

it's 추석 (chuseok, sort of like thanksgiving) here, so i'm on the cusp of a five-day weekend.

i'll be fine. as long as the internet doesn't go out.

i'm having a problem writing korean on this website.

ADDENUM: i don't know how or why, but after i switched browsers, the korean seems to work fine.

hanaro, my darling

so i've got some new internet. VDSL. it's rated at 1-2 Mbits/s. it's about CA$40/month.

regular web browsing is the same. most downloads too. giganews is obscenely slow for some reason, but i once ftpd something from seoul and it came down at about 1 MByte/s(!). i love fibre.

in other news, my friend sue moved to shinchon, which is better for her, and better for me, too.

ah, here's a picture of me trying to grow a goatee.

and here's a picture of my friend chris' baby aaron. i named him.
