bachelor of laws

It seems that i'm not destined to be a lawyer. At least, to go to law school. I've received all seven rejections. But I expected as much, after hearing of my LSAT score.

In other news, I'm on the job hunt, and I've got a really great prospect. I don't want to jinx it, as I've already told many people about it, so I'll wait till I've signed a contract.

Summer vacation is upon us... well, me. It starts next Thursday and I'm really very anxious about it. In the last few months there have been no long holiday weekends on the account of the fact that the stupid holidays all landed on the weekends. I have not had a three-day weekend since the beginning of April. It blows.

important notice for magnetonicans!

this new software has a new comment system. i can now approve and ban users. this is good because i get lots of spam. you can also register to get an id which would speed up the process.

i'll be tweaking the style sheet that governs the look of the main page as time permits.

as for me, i'm looking for another job and still kinda poor cos all my private lessons stopped on me. i like my new used epson stylus photo 830 printer. it has six colour inks and black. wow. nice looking photos.

it's monsoon season here, so as you can imagine, it rains constantly. actually, it just rains a lot on and off all day and night. it starts and stops on a whim.

not a lot of xbox action going on. the games i've got aren't really doing it for me. i'm sick of 3rd person action/shooters at the moment. ah.

face-lift

actually, a complete engine overhaul.

the software running this blog has just been upgraded. i had tried upgrading before but it was acting strange, so i reverted back. then today i tried to enable mySQL access for the blog, but that just turned out really nasty and i couldn't figure out how to fix it. so i went ahead and deleted the entire thing and downloading and installing this new version. seems to work fine.

more beer here!

so we're at this bar called 친구야놀자 (Let's Play Together) and we get some beer. it arrives, however, as if it had just stepped out of a bad frankenstien b-movie. as such:

there is a small cooling compartment with what i think is water at the bottom of the pitcher which rises up to surround the sides of the main pitcher compartment. inside the water-cooling compartment is a couple of chunks of dry ice, which makes for the mad scientist look-and-feel. it keeps the beer cold.

if there is one thing about korea that i love, it's the level of service that you can get for the simplest things. that pitcher of beer was not that much more expensive than anywhere else, but you get a chunk of dry ice to keep it that much cooler that much longer. if you go to baskin robbins to get ice cream or an ice cream cake to go, they throw in some dry ice to keep thinks cool. every time i fill up on gas, they give me a small box of tissue.

anyway, all i wanted was to show you the beer video.

baby you can ride my car

so i may have mentioned to some of you that i got a car. can you guess which one? (Mouseover to find the answer.)

i got insurance for ₩330,000/year, which works out to about CA$380/year. not bad, since they took into account that i've been driving for over 10 years. gas is super expensive, about twice as much as in T.O. but i can survive for a month on about CA$40.

in recent news...

it looks i'll finally be leaving the 학원 (hagwon, a private educational academy or instute) that i've been with for the last year and ten months. i had asked to work only part-time, but for some reason, they didn't like it. that's ok with me. i'm actually quite tired of working there. i've got some other jobs on the horizon, so i should be ok...

my printer died. the crappy shitty sucky thing is that i only realised this after i had installed a new ₩10,000 ink cartridge, previously thinking that my ink had just run out. in fact, the print head had failed. it's apparently a common problem with that model/series of printers (canon i320), where if you don't use it for a long time, it just seems to clog up. pretty stupid if you ask me. i also read online that if you use the printer too much, the drive belt will conveniently dislodge itself. i guess that's what you get for one of the least expensive printers. mind you, i only paid ₩30,000 for it a year ago and it was already six months old by that time. but that last ₩10,000 on the wasted ink really get me...

i got my korean driver's license. it took about 15 minutes for the paperwork and eye tests and lamination and here it is...

my friend trish also left the school that i'm at. i raided her apartment and got a very fancy rice cooker...
