we got hitched... again

Well, not really.

But today we are now legally married in both Korea and Canada.

We have now been "married" four times.

Let me explain.

Number One: Jackie is Catholic and I am not. So she had a special mass designed specifically for Catholics marrying non-Catholics. The mass was really a wedding disguised as a wedding ceremony.

There's actually a funny story about this. We were standing at the front of the chapel and then the priest gave us this folder thingy to look at. It had all the wedding vows written there... in Korean! Now, I can read Korean fine, but I'm usually pretty slow. So I'm looking at this script, and I can see all the parts where the groom is supposed to read his parts. I glance the beginning and it's pretty straightforward: "Yes, I will.", "Yes, I do.", etc. Then the overleaf has got this paragraph of stuff I'm supposed to read. I'm freaking out. So I ignore the priest and start practising my parts. It gets time to my turn and somehow it all just came flowing out. Suffice to say, everyone was impressed by my performance, myself included.

So we were married in the eyes of God and some family.

Number Two: The Wedding Day: May 14, 2005. Well, for those of you who missed it, I'll keep the description short. It was a nice wedding. As far as we could afford, it was as non-wedding hall wedding as we could get. People enjoyed it.

So we were married in the eyes of God again, our friends, and our families.

Number Three: At one of the district offices in Seoul we registered our marriage.

So we were married in the eyes of the Korean government.

Number Four: At the Canadian Embassy, they also registered our marriage.

So we were married in the eyes of the Canadian government.

The point: we weren't actually married four times, but we did have two ceremonies and ran around Seoul a lot this morning.
